Theme of The Game
Wicked Circus is not exactly what it sounds like. It might appear to be a circus themed title, but if you look at its design you will see mostly symbols of a classic nature, meaning things like bells, 7s or fruits.
There is only one feature icon that shows a Joker on it, which appears to have more of a direct connection to the topic. The decorations and the background image do seem to be circus inspired, and you can see behind the reels a room where you have things like cannons stored.
Developer
Yggdrasil Gaming is a developer that is relatively new to the market, based in Malta and developing their pokie machines out of offices in Poland. The name of the company comes from a great tree that is mentioned by Nord mythology.
Their games tend to look great, and they often have features which are different from those available in their competitors. They aim to innovate as well, not just put out yet another pokie machine. Their titles are done with HTML 5, and they are offered both in mobile and desktop form.
How To Play It
The pokie has 10 lines apparently, though in truth they’re more like 5 lines which pay both ways (combinations can start from the left or from the right side).
Either way, you need 10 coins to wager each round, and you decide only on their value, not their number. The coin value starts at $0.01 and can go up to $1, which would mean that a bet of $10 is possible each round. This makes it a relatively cheap game to play.
I enjoyed the game for the most part, and this is despite the use of classic icons for its regular symbols, something which normally I would find very annoying. You will discover various fruits, bells or stars among those six regular symbols, the seventh one being the feature, with the image of the Joker.
Special Features
The pokie has two major features, both of them rather unusual for a pokie machine. The Mystery Win would be the first one, and it’s a random prize that you get when you have a certain number of Joker symbols present anywhere on the reels.
The range from which the random prize is chosen depends on how many Jokers triggered the Mystery Win. You need at least 3 Jokers in base game mode, or 2 during Jokerizer Mode.
The smallest range is for two Jokers, and it’s between 40 and 400 coins. If you had three Jokers, it’s from 500 to 1,000 coins. With four Jokers, the minimum is 800 coins, the maximum is 3,000 coins. The biggest payouts come from five Jokers, which will bring you 2,000 to 6,000 coins.
The Jokerizer Mode activates whenever the player wins something. If he wants to keep his money, he can collect it. If he wants to risk it for a chance at bigger payouts, he can wager 20 coins for each round of the Jokerizer Mode.
Should you land 2 or more Jokers during this mode, you will be offered the chance to pay for respins. The reels with Jokers will be held, while the others respin in exchange for 60 coins. You can keep doing so until you run out of coins, or until you get all five Jokers.
Maximum Payouts
The big payout is obviously the 6,000 coins Mystery Win, a value of $6,000 possible from it. The regular combinations pay at most 300 coins, so $300.
Summary
If you’re looking for something unusual and potentially fun, Wicked Circus seems to fit that description. There are disadvantages to the game as well though, like the fact that you have to use your winnings to trigger its features, or the very low number of lines.
