Theme of The Game
Magic Jester’s theme is indicated by the title, the game relying on the use of the jester for its main role. It’s a game that doesn’t try too hard with its design, but which makes up for it in other areas. There is a main character here, a Jester, which is used for the wild feature.
The rest of the symbols are common choices for low paying icons everywhere. I’m talking about the poker logos on one hand, and about the classic pub icons on the other.
For the latter, that means having images of cherries, of watermelon, of a bell and a red 7. The surrounding graphics look pretty dark, with mixes of greens and blues. There isn’t much cheer going on unfortunately.
Developer
Novomatic is a huge developer, one of the oldest ones still in business today. They’ve started creating land based pokies and gaming machines in 1980. They are based in Austria, and they have more than 19,000 employees worldwide, in 70 different countries.
They have an online aspect to their business as well, a natural choice since it’s the place to be at these days. They bought up a company in 2011, called Greentube, and with their help they started creating titles for the online casinos as well.
How To Play It
It’s a game that is designed to work well on all sorts of platforms, including the ones that use touch. That’s why you’re not going to see the betting options on the main screen. You have to click on the Menu button, located at the top of the Spin.
You get the betting options from there, with the option to select up to 10 lines, and to have a bet per line which varies between $1 and $1,000. With all the lines in use, the wager could go from $10 to $10,000, making it worthy of attention from high rollers.
It’s a good pokie machine overall, one that I enjoyed trying out, but I wouldn’t return to it in the long run. The graphics include too many classics, and though they look OK, they’re not enough to keep me playing the pokie.
Special Features
The Magic Reels are the ones that truly transform the game. You will find that one or more reels will be highlighted each spin, and that the symbols found on them will transform in versions with two or three objects on them, instead of just one.
The symbols that can double or triple are the wild (Jester), the melon, the bell, 7 and cherry. The poker cards are not influenced. Combinations take into account how many objects are present in them, not how many symbols.
That’s why, with 5 reels that have triple objects on them, you can even have up to 15 symbols in a combo. The truly big payouts are paid this way, while the minimum ones need only three objects.
As for the more regular features, there is only one, the Jester Wild. Being the only feature symbol present, it can replace any other icon in a newly formed combo, without exceptions.
Maximum Payouts
Normally, I would consider a top jackpot of $800,000 a big accomplishment for a pokie machine. In the case of Magic Jester, it’s not nearly as impressive, since the wagers needed per line would be at $1,000.
It would be a 800x jackpot, way too low a return. The theoretical RTP is at a bit over 95%, which is OK, but once again, it could be better.
Summary
Magic Jester will give you a reason to try it out, to see how it works, but not to stick around with it.
