Theme of The Game
With the theme of Grim Muerto, Play N Go has chosen to mix mariachi bands and death, and what came out is a pokie machine where skeletons are dressed up as singers, hold guitars and play music.
The mariachi phenomenon has become popular with the appearance of the Desperado film, and in this game we see four members of a band. They are dressed in pink, blue, green and orange clothes, they hold accordions, guitars, trumpets and violins, and they even have mustaches.
It’s a beautifully decorated game, whose only downside would be the presence of poker cards on its reels.

With about 60+ games released so far, Play N Go might sound like it’s a relatively new company, but it’s actually one of the oldest still around. Initially a subsidiary since 1997, it has become an independent company in 2005, and they’ve offered great pokie machines ever since.
Quite a few of the pokie machines they’ve created can be played on mobile devices, so they’ve tried to keep up with the times as well. They have their share of both good and average pokie machines, and from a design point of view I’d count Grim Muerto to be in the former camp.
How To Play It
Though the game uses fixed lines, so you always get 20 of them and just as many chances to get paid, you will have the option to decide on the number of coins for each line, which will be between 1 and 5. You can also pick the value of the coins, which will have a range of $0.01 to $1. You may spend $5 per line at most, while the total for one spin can reach $100.
It’s a fun looking game, one which offers all the betting options in the same bottom left corner. You have gorgeous symbols and background graphics, especially the ones used on the reels. There are areas where the design could’ve been improved though, specifically in the choice of low paying symbols.
Special Features
I would start with the Guitar symbol, the one which gets the role of the wild in this case. Use it to replace another symbol, and you will have a new combination formed, one which wouldn’t have brought you anything, or it would’ve been a smaller prize.
Should two to five Guitars form a combo by appearing left to right together, a prize will be offered by the wild directly, reaching 1,000x.
10 free spins can be triggered when the game has three symbols with the Book of Dead present anywhere on the reels. Some advantages are offered during the free spins, such as the use of an extra wild, chosen from the four Mariachi icons.
