Theme of The Game
Dodge City Pokies is a game with a Wild West theme, the name being based on that of a well known frontier town, not necessarily for good things though, being more of a place where outlaws could be found, and where gun duels and shootings would occur either between its inhabitants or with the Native Americans.
The location is obviously inside the city, so the reels will be squeezed between two buildings, one of which has the saloon. For symbols, the game starts you off with three of a kind poker cards, starting from the 9 and reaching the Ace with these combinations.
It’s a much more proper choice than in other pokies, since people would’ve played poker in saloons back then. Other symbols visible in the game will have the sheriff, the outlaw, a lady, horses, sheriff stars, boots with spurs and a whiskey glass.
Developer
One of the new companies that have appeared in recent years, Arrow’s Edge has been founded in 2014. They managed to create more games in these two short years, than most developers.
I’m not as happy with their graphics as I am with those from other new developers, but they have some interesting ideas for their games. Some titles that you might want to check out include Alice in Dreamland, Bluebeard’s Gold and Mad Road.
How To Play It
Since you’re getting 10 lines in the game, the total bet that you choose will have to cover as many as you want active. The game has a minimum bet value of $0.20, and a maximum one of $250. It would appear that the line bet can be anywhere between $0.02 and $25.
Dodge City Pokies has a better than average design, some animations which occur in the background, and overall it will be perfectly playable title. I’ve seen much better looking Wild West games though.
Special Features
The features will come from three symbols, showing you just as many characters from the Wild West. These are the wild, the bonus and the scatter symbols.
First, let’s check out the wild symbol, which will show off the Outlaw. Combinations which are formed with Outlaw symbols in them can reward you in a couple of ways.
The ideal situation is when you get only Outlaw Wilds on lines, so that they form combinations themselves and get you paid up to 10,000 coins. There is also the situation where the wild is only a substitute for another icon, but that’s still good if it gets you a prize that wouldn’t have been offered otherwise.
The Sally symbol, the one with the woman, will be a scatter that is used only on the first three reels. All those symbols have to appear, to get you the feature with 15 free spins.
As you play the free spins, there will be Whiskey Shot symbols on the reels at times, and you can collect these to later get access to additional free spins and even multipliers if there are enough symbols collected. Multipliers can get to 3x at that time.
Wyatt, the image with the sheriff used for it, will be the bonus symbol, which you get on reels 3, 4 and 5. With all three scattered on the last reels, you get the bonus game and you have to shoot at outlaws, five of them available at most. Each one gets you a prize.
Maximum Payouts
Two progressive jackpots are available in Dodge City Pokies, one called Super Pokies Jackpot, the other Cash Grab Jackpot. The first one is the one with the highest value. The payouts of 10,000x which are fixed can bring you up to $250,000.
Summary
Dodge City gives you a good chance to explore the Wild West, and to experience the fight between the outlaws and the sheriffs of the time. The design is not the best one out there, but it is acceptable.
